And the part of my heart, where you're still lying, it fled...

I'm not sure what it is lately, but I've had a real craving to explore girlie clothing and preppy styling - probably because it's something I've not really tried before. I still picture all of these pretty items counteracted with lashings of black, but the thought is definitely there and not going away. Today, I even fell in love with a pink coat from River Island which quite honestly is something I never thought I'd say! One of my friends asked me for Christmas presents ideas today when we were shopping together, and I found myself pointing out pastel-coloured fluffy knitwear and jewel-embellished items - things I'd never normally buy for myself in fear of forever favouring black clothes, but would kind of love to have an excuse to wear should they find their way into my wardrobe. With that said, can I present to you my latest outfit post; an accidental take on what, in retrospect, looks like schoolgirl chic ahah...

Heart Elbow Patch Jumper - Topshop
Treggings - Topshop
Boots - New Look

Cuffs - Accessorize

Treggings are also something that are quite new to me - and something I've never liked before. Full stop, I can't stand leggings as trousers, and when disco pants came out I couldn't help but loathe them (sorry for any converts, but that shiny fabric does nothing for me!) However, this style from Topshop are thick enough to pass as trousers, and the fact that they have a fly and back pockets has just about managed to convince me that they're socially acceptable to wear in public. I do regret my decision to size up, however; they get so stretched out by the end of the day and one night I wore them out and it felt like I was constantly yanking them up like an old lady's tights - not the classiest look! The bracelets are from Accessorize, and ones I got from my uni house Secret Santa - I love them so much, especially worn across from each other like this. The jumper is one I got from Topshop ages ago yet haven't got around to photographing (I shamelessly bought it for the elbow patches - tartan hearts, swoon!) which I layered with a lace collared shirt. For extra prep points, I put a ribbon in my hair which for me was the decider in cultivating my new favourite hairstyle. Find this outfit on Lookbook here...

Have you ever wanted to try new things that you never thought you'd like?

  4. Awwh this is very cute and cosy-looking! :) (Currently wearing a tartan scarf so I'm feeling your Scottish love.) I'm weirdly partial to a little bit of pastel mixed in with black outfits. I guess I like my colours either very dark or very light. ^_^ Also this hair style is really nice! I always think your hair looks great. xxx

    1. Thanks Harley! Yayyy, I am half-Scottish after all so the thought is there! Yeah I think pastel pops so much juxtaposed with a Gothic accessory or a touch of black; what do they call it, pastel goth?! Intrigued!! I think you're right about the dark or light, it's all about the contrast! I'm the same with hair colour I think haha :) xxx

  8. I love the elbow patches on the jumper! So cute! When it comes to trying something new, just take a few pieces in to the changing rooms with you and give them a go! I used to do that a lot years ago when things would catch my eye that were nothing like I'd usually wear, just for fun. If nothing else,, it's fun to see what you'd look like in something so alien to yourself and your usual style, but you may discover how much you like certain colours and styles and find the confidence to step outside of your comfort zone xx
