Bonding with baby as a second-time mama

The most notable difference with a second pregnancy for me has been the lack of time you have to think about things the second time around! Unlike last time, when baby is ALL I thought about, my energy goes into looking after my beautiful toddler girl and sometimes I kinda forget I'm pregnant until my big bump gets in the way or Sprout gives me a little kick or nudge as if to say "hey, I'm here too!" Luckily, I've found a few ways to bond with our little baby when I get a moment...

✨ I've been wearing a Bola/harmony ball necklace again. I used one of these with Eden and they're such a lovely idea. They hang low, above bump, and make a soft, twinkly chiming sound. It's said baby gets to know this sound and it soothes them (or they might even learn that when they kick, it will make the sound) and once they're born the idea is to wear the necklace higher, i.e. when babywearing or breastfeeding, so the same familiar sound can soothe them outside of the womb.

✨ I've been playing hypnobirthing recordings at night and reading The Positive Birth Book to try and bring myself into a positive, relaxed and empowered mindset. Last time we skipped the usual antenatal classes and just went for a hypnobirthing class which I honestly think was the best thing we could have done for us, so I'm starting to try and refresh the valuable information and skills we learned last time.

✨ I've also been trying out the Headspace Pregnancy meditation course - this is a great one for daytime as each session is only ten or fifteen minutes so if I can bear to put down my to-do list while Eden naps I try and do the course. It's a really great opportunity to take a moment of chill and focus with baby. 💆🏼‍♀️

✨ Finally, Downdog have a prenatal yoga app which is *fantastic* - again, I need to use it more regularly in place of the to-do list! It really helps stretch out those pregnancy aches, and Sprout always goes wild kicking once I'm finished and go into savasana, as if to say "that was fun Mama!" 🧘🏼‍♀️

How did you like to bond with baby during pregnancy?
